Steven J. Suzio Golf Tournament

About Steven J. Suzio

Steven J. Suzio was born in Meriden on April 20, 1959. He was a 1977 graduate of St. Paul Catholic High School, where he was awarded nine varsity letters in football, swimming, indoor track, and outdoor track. He was also a member of the St. Paul Glee Club and he served on the Student Council.

Steven continued his education at Dean Junior College and he earned an Associate's Degree in Business Administration. During his senior year at Dean, Steven served as Student Council president.

On May 19, 1979, one week before his commencement exercises, Steven died in an auto accident. He is remembered for his commitment to excellence displayed on – and beyond – the athletic field and classroom. He accomplished so many things in his life, possessed a human compassion that made him intensely devoted to his family and friends, and would go out of his way to help others in any way possible.

Because Steven touched so many lives at St. Paul Catholic High School, a scholarship was established in his memory in 1979. The Steven J. Suzio Scholarship Fund is designed to honor a graduating senior at St. Paul Catholic High School who best reflects the qualities that Steven possessed: scholarship, leadership, and athletic ability. Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we have been able to award over 50 scholarships and donate over $90,000 to local charities.
